Andrew L. Pointer, 80, passed away on April, 20, 2019. Services will be Saturday, April 27, 2019 with visitation beginning at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Can Run Missionary Baptist Church, 1455 Catalpa Street. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.
Andrew was preceded in death by sisters Arlene Justice, Lucille Pointer, Mary Pointer, May Eliza Pointer. Brothers Robert Pointer, and Isom Pointer, Jr. and nephew Arthur Pointer.
Andrew accepted Christ at an early age at Powell Chapel AME Church in Pulaski, Tennessee. He moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1959 and joined Young Chapel AME Church. He was a member there for 22 years and served dutifully on the Senior Usher Board.
Andrew was a member of Cane Run Missionary Baptist Church for 15 years. He served faithfully as a member of the Men of Faith.
Andrew was employed at Standard and Gravure for 30 years until he became disabled and had to retire after the Standard Gravure shooting on September 14, 1989.
Andrew loved his Louisville Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Andrew leaves to mourn his beloved, “Ginny,”Geneva Jones-Parker; daughters, Deborah Gilbert, Sherri’ Pointer, and Mosezella M. Jones, and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The Jones family would like to thank Calvin Smith for the loving care he provided over the last year.
