Obituaries

Cora Elizabeth Todd Coleman peacefully went home to her heavenly Father surrounded by family on August 5, 2019.

Cora was born in Shelbyville, KY, on February 11, 1931. She attended Lincoln Institute in (Lincoln Ridge) Simpsonville, KY, where she met and married Rev. Thurmond Coleman, Sr. Cora was a true Christian, devoted wife, caring mother and a faithful friend.  She was a strong quiet presence that brought peace and joy to all that crossed her path.  She adored serving as Chairperson for Dare-to-Care Jeffersontown Food Program, Secretary of the American Baptist Committee, Hospitality Chairperson from Humana Hospital, and Treasurer for the Baptist Ministers Wives Council.   

Cora’s love and kindness to the congregation she served as Pastor’s wife for 45 years will be cherished by members far and wide.  She will be remembered by the touch of her hand, the sincerity in every word she spoke, and her enduring love for her family and many friends.  

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Carol Coleman and her son, Thurmond Coleman Jr.   

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 72 years Rev. Thurmond Coleman, Sr.; a daughter, Thelma; sons, Charles (Pam), and Don (Denise); daughter-in-law, Rev. Linda Coleman; sister-in-law, Blanche Bowen; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. -12 noon on Friday with funeral service at 12 noon at First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown, 10600 Watterson Trail.
