James Raymond Mulligan, Sr. was born in Louisville, KY on January 9, 1932 to Charles Raymond Mulligan (Late) and Mary Catherine Cowherd-Mulligan (Late). He was the oldest of eight children. In 1955 he entered into holy matrimony to Leathia Julianne Tucker and to that union five children were born. He later divorced and entered into Holy matrimony to Melva Wallace (Deceased).

James graduated from Central High School. He later joined the U.S. Armed Forces and fought to protect his county in World War II. He also worked in several capacities to provide for his family – he worked as an entrepreneur, an amunition technician and as a carpenter by trade.

James joined the Nazarene Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky at an early age. He later rededicated his life to the Lord at the Lord’s Temple Church where Author Patterson is Pastor. It was there he was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. He later moved his membership to Spirit of Love Christian Center where Pastor Derek Wilson is pastor. James served faithfully within the maintenance ministry at Spirit of Love until his health began to wane.

Brother Mulligan answered the call from labor to reward on Wednesday, September 14, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Melva Wallace Mulligan; his son by his 1st wife (Gerald Mulligan), his father, Charles Raymond Mulligan (Late); his mother, Mary Catherine Cowherd-Mulligan (Late), his sister Joanne Green, his brothers Lorenzo and Lee Edward Mulligan and his brother Richard Manning; also known as “Tuts”.

James leaves cherished memories to his four children: Wanda Fawbush (RW) and Cathy Upshire of Louisville Ky; James Raymond Mulligan, Jr. (Alesia) of Chicago, IL and Cheryl Mulligan of Pine Bluff, Ark. He also leaves cherished memories to 16 grand children, 29 great grand children, eight great great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

James Mulligan also leaves cherished memories to the children of his late wife (Melva): Betty Lou, Eileen and Elaine Brodgen (late) of Louisville, Ky; as well as Curtis Owlsey, Charles Agustus, also known as “Butch” (Bonita) of Louisville, Ky. He also leaves cherished memories to the NEED GRAND AND GREAT GRAND CHILDREN COUNT, of his late wife and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
