John Alfred Brodley, 63, passed away on February 27, 2025. Servies will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Hope International A.O.H. Church, 2300 Algonquin Parkway.

John was raised in the Catholic Faith and served as an altar boy for many years.  John later joined New Century Fellowship Church and served as a Deacon. He was a part of the Men’s Ministry, Church Choir Member, and the Beauty for Ashes (B4A) Community Choir.  He was the Leader of the Kitchen Ministry, where he continued faithfully working and praising God until his Homegoing.

John attended Moore High School, Louisville, KY, and married the love of his life, Margaret (Yates) Brodley, on June 16, 1983. John was an avid mountain biker and electric bike enthusiast, John enjoyed exploring the outdoors. When he was not at home enjoying action and adventure movies, you could find him at a lake or river “Drowning worms” (fishing), as he called it. What most people knew about John was that he had a passion for collecting knives and Invicta watches. You could not walk past a store front or watch a commercial without John dragging you to see his knives or Invicta watch collection and sharing it with you. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his loved ones and friends.

John retired from Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant, Louisville Ky in 2020.  He was a talented Chef, Baker, and Caterer for over 35 years, known for his love of cooking Italian food and exquisite desserts.  He took great joy in making delicious meals that brought happiness to everyone, especially on the grill. He created the most beautiful and delicious pastries and desserts and passed on his talents to his children.

John’s warmth, kindness, and passion for life, for family, friends, food and fishing, could only be equaled by his love of his U of K sports team. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His parents, Pauline Marie Johnston and James G. Brodley, Jr; and his nephew: Terrance J Brodley preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Margaret, of 42 years and their five children: Daughters: Natalie Brady (Larry), Maria of Polick Pines, CA, and Whitney; Sons: Edwin, and Ja’mon Brodley; A loving sister: Irene Brodley, and brothers: Hiser Johnston (Deborah) of Las Vegas, NV, and James Brodley (Natalia) of Clarksville, TN. He was the “Grandpa Whisperer” to 14 grandchildren; and loving, special, sisters: Mary Thomas and Sandra Posey; other cherished friends who were there until the end:  Michael York, David Daniel and Dee DeLand.  He loved all his friends and extended family.
