Obituaries

Johnetta Wales Simpson, 73, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020. Services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.

Johnetta was born on December 1, 1946 to the late John Shobe and Margaret Miller. She is survived by her four  children Carol Wales, Carolyn Bradley (Marshall Jr), Cynthia Burr, and Wallace Wales Jr (Niesha).

Johnetta was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Shobe (Brenda). She left behind two sisters, Mildred Mills (John) and Sharon Moore. Brothers, Jesse Shobe (Karen), Von Allen Shobe (Myra), Samuel Moore (Tonya) and Ronald Moore. She also had 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews and her companion, Jonah Bell.

Johnetta was a member of Greater Harvest Missionary Church. She loved the Lord as well as singing. She would sing in every group she could, including the Brotherhood. Her favorite song was, Blessed Assurance and she would sing that song to her children as much as possible. She would also sing “Christian Automobile “ to her grandchildren.

Johnetta was loved by all and will truly be missed as she loved to have fun and be around her family and friends.
