Obituaries

84, of New Albany Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Second Baptist Church, New Albany. He retired from the City of New Albany after 44 1/2 years of service. He was preceded in death by two children, Janice Brown Dobbins and Melvin C. Brown, Jr.; one grandson, Brian Burrage; and all of his siblings. He is survived by his son, Nolan T. Brown; grandchildren, Rev. Anthony B. Toran, who cared for him; Maria Moore, Ronald Brown, Jasmine Dobbins, Shawn Smith, Nathan Clark, Nicole Davis, Carlos Davis, Antonio Austin, Steven Greer, Prince Edward Greer, Jr. and Derrick Gree, Veralyn Southers, Nathaniel Southers, Christopher Gordon, and Shelina Reed; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;

Stepchildren: Prince & Amelanie Greer, Nate & Vera Gordon, Herman Southers, Phyllis Collier, Donna Collier and Charlie Collier; and dear friend, Cynthia Collier.  Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Galatian Missionary Baptist Church, 2020 Maryland Avenue, New Albany, IN with interment in West Haven Cemetery, New Albany, IN.
