Michael W. Young, Sr., 71, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. Michael was born on January 19, 1951, to the late Johnnie Will and Pearl Catherine Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Finney-Mitchell and his grandson, Keith Malone, Jr.
Michael is a graduate of Central High School. After graduating, he had a long career working at General Electric, until his retirement.
Michael is survived by his children Michael W. Young, Jr. (Shequita) and Kimberly Shumake; his grandchildren, Mickaela Young, Mich’Kale Young, Elishia Boykin, Tirrell Weathers, David Shumake, Destiny Shumake, Davon Shumake; sister, Teresa L. Bridgewaters (Frank); brother, Mitchell W. Young (Deidra); nieces, Adrianne P. Marsh, Olivia Hooten (Kareem), and nephews, Michael D. Marsh (Dawn), DeMarco Graves, Damon Duncan and Mitchell Conley; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022, at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive. S 34th St, Louisville, KY 40211. Visitation from 11am, with funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m.
