Philomina Jeffery, 66, passed away on March 28, 2025. Services will be Thursday, April 10, 2025 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1018 S. 15th Street.
Philomina Rose, affectionately known as “Renee,” was born on November 25, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Beatrice Rose and Thomas Rose, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Rose and Jeffery Rose.
Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, she attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois. She was known for being the best dancer and won many stepping contests. She attended Soul Train numerous times. She loved throwing down in the kitchen and she made some of the best fried chicken, and every Friday, she made homemade tacos. Philomina was the heart and strength of her family. Her grandkids kept her going, she loved them with everything in her. She loved her husband and kids beyond life itself. She was known for her impeccable fashion sense, she always turned heads with her confidence and style. Philomina was also the life of the party, captivating everyone with her dance moves. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We will carry her memories in our hearts forever.
Philomina leaves to mourn her loving husband, Walter James Jeffery; two sons, Larry Rose (Terrica) and Walter White; her stepson, Kenyada Lucas; and two stepdaughters, Lakesia Jeffery and Jamie Jeffery. She is also survived by her two sisters, Delphia Rose, Linda Rose-Taylor, and Pamela Rose-Dailey (Cecil); her brothers, Ross Perry (Denise), Thomas Rose Jr., and William Rose.
Philomina cherished her two grandchildren, Larry Dean Jr. and Lacre Dean, as well as her six step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a circle of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
