Obituaries

Rev. John Oliver Crittenden, Jr., 75, joined his Heavenly Father on February 20, 2023 in Louisville, KY. Rev. Crittenden earned his B.A. in history and political science from Virginia Union University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. The Reverend was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. During his ministry he served as Senior Pastor to four churches. Over 50 years, Rev. Crittenden served his community most notably as the Louisville Metro Police Chaplain, University of Louisville Men’s Basketball Chaplain, and substitute teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools. Our beloved brother is survived by 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, February 27, 2023 beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church, 6800 S. Hurstborne Pkwy.
