James R. Fox, Sr., Louisville, 87, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021. Services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Eastern Star Baptist Church, 2400 Howard Street. Interment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY. James was born to the late Sylvester and Mary E. Fox in St. Louis, Missouri and is the last of their ten children to join our Father in Heaven. As a child, James accepted Christ as his personal savior at the Washington Metropolitan AME Zion Church in St. Louis, MO and later became a member of The Eastern Star Baptist Church for 31 years. James enlisted in the US Army in 1953 during the Korean War. He served in numerous locations throughout the United States, South Vietnam during the 1960s, and overseas to Frankfurt, Germany, and the Republic of Panama. During Sergeant Fox’s 21 years in the military, he received a number of notable awards, including the Army Commendation Medal (1965-1969), the Bronze Star Medal (1969-1970), the Army Commendation Medal, First Leaf Cluster (1970-1974) and the Department of the Army, Certificate of Appreciation (1974). He retired from his 2nd career with Lorillard and, National Tobacco Company after 20 years of service. James was a wonderful family patriarch and a friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed music, dancing, playing golf and traveling the world with his wife. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving devoted wife of 30 years, Eula Jane; children Edna Fox, Betty J. Fox, James R. Fox, Jr. (Terri), Clarizza Webb (James), Brian Kemp (Francesca), Alan Kemp, Steven Kemp and Terri Kemp Gardner (Adrian) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. |
