Shirley Ann (Pendleton) Freeman, 84, passed away on June 10, 2023. Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Friday, June 16. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1472 Dixie Highway, with the funeral service to follow at 12 noon. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.
Shirley Ann Freeman was born in Echols, Kentucky on June 22, 1938 to the late Louis G. Pendleton and Gladys Collins. She was the oldest
child of five children. She received Christ at an early age as a member of Hill Street Baptist Church, later on in life she joined Mount Zion Baptist Church. Shirley attended Madison Public Schools, where she enjoyed playing basketball and doing hair. She was a die-hard Louisville Cardinal fan. Shirley was also known to be the life of the party and would brighten any room with her smile. Shirley is preceded in death by her late husband, Luther E. “Red” Freeman, brother, John R. “Pen” Pendleton, sisters, Bertha Pendleton Underwood, Mary Lois Martin and grandson, Robert L. Arnold. She leaves to cherish her memories to her three daughters, Cordelia A. Pendleton, Mary E. “Lizzy” Pendleton (Tracie Marshall) and Dorothy J. Pendleton; two sons Louis E. Pendleton (Faye Garner) and Luther E. “Jenkin” Freeman Jr. (Etta Glenn), sister Dr. Lennie Pendleton-Marshall and a host of grandkids, great grandkids, great-great grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
