Michael Douglas Mitchell, 70, passed away on January 8, 2025. Services will be Friday, January 17, 2025 beginning with visitation at 12 noon and funeral service to follow at 2 pm at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife Gardenia Mitchell; mother, Mary Mitchell; father, Earl Goldsmith; sister, Jacquline Johnson; and his aunt, Alberta Bibbs.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Michael Shawnell Mitchell Jr.; his grandson, Michael S. Mitchell III; fiancé, Bonnie Stinnett; stepsons, Robert Cummins (Hallie), Jacob Brown (Gracie), Kamari Childress; two grandchildren, Kaliana and Kyler Cummins; brothers, Donnie Mitchell (Janice Mitchell) Steve Mitchell, Dwight Mitchell; sisters, Earlene Shelby (Derrick Shelby) Carolyn Doss (Michael Gates) Victoria Mitchell, Marion Mitchell; nephew, Jemal Johnson; cousin, Yolonda Sanders (Ricky Sanders); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
