Phyllis A. (Mozee) Jones, 79, passed away on April 3, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, KY. Services will be Wednesday, April 16, 2025 beginning with visitation at 1 pm and funeral service to follow at 2 pm at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive. Phyliss embraced her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Ervin Mozee and Freda Mozee. She was also preceded in death by her son, Clarence Freeman Summers Jr.; her brother, William Mozee; and her sisters, Doris Woodford and Patsy Scott Mozee. Phyllis was a cherished daughter, mother, and sister whose spirit shined brightly in the hearts of her family. She thrived in the joy of family gatherings, where music, delicious food, and dancing brought everyone together. After dedicating 29 years as a Plant Operator with the Jefferson County Public Schools, she embraced retirement with enthusiasm, finding fulfillment in senior social programs, thrifting, and bingo. Her true calling was serving her community and giving back to her beloved church, embodying a godly passion for helping others. She is survived by three daughters: Jaqueline (Nita) Middleton (Chris Middleton), Theresa Summers, and LaTonya Holt; one son, Clint Summers; and one daughter-in-law, Marya Summers. She is also survived by three sisters: Mary Mozee, Yvonne Wallace, and Barbra Thomas; two brothers: James Mozee and Leroy Walker; seven granddaughters: Dekota Summers, Cheyenne Summers, Kandy Baines, Clarissa Reid, Ay’zia Edwards, Kendra Mitchell, and Zakiyia Holt; and four grandsons: Quillan Baines, De’Juan Edwards, Cherokee Summers, and Clinton Summers. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. |
