Wanda J. Blakey

Wanda Jean Blakey, 66, passed away on April 10, 2025. Services will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 Beech Street.

A devoted mother, Wanda’s proudest accomplishment was watching her children grow; her daughters, Letissha M. Blakey and Darnella N. Blakey who she raised as a daughter, and son James R. Blakey; granddaughters, Ja’Qua, Aeryon, and Laniece were the apples of her eye. She was always protected by her little big brothers; Michael (Roshon), Steven, Wayne Sr., and Orlando Blakey Sr; a special friend, Mr. Stanley and her loving caregiver, Alexis Mayberry.  Wanda was preceded in death by, her mother; Willa Mae Blakey; her father, James W. Blakey; her brothers, Raymond Cabbil, and David Blakey; sisters, Donna Faye, and Carolyn R. Hambric; grandmothers; Essie N. Hubbard and Elnora Blakey.

She also leaves to cherish her memory; a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors. Needless to say she will be greatly missed.
