Dana M. Stewart

February 25, 2026

Dana Michelle Stewart, 63, passed away on February 25, 2026. Services will be Friday, March 6, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1018 S. 15th Street.

Dana was born October 21, 1962, to parents Peggy and James Stewart. She was the second of two daughters. In life, creativity and art were her passions. She was an accomplished poet, painter, and author. She had a love for music and the pursuit of knowledge; she held the belief that there was always something to be learned in life. Dana was home schooled and attended college. She had her baptism at Saint Steven’s Baptist church. Though she did not attend church regularly, she maintained her faith in Christ. Though faced with adversities since her youth, she counted them as out of her hands and persevered through her days unabated. Dana gave her whole heart to provide a loving home for her son, and she lived a vibrant life. She made her peace with God, and on February 25, 2026, he called her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Michael Powell. She leaves behind her son Camron Tyler; her sister, Paula Peppers and additional siblings; Philip Stone, Curtis Drake, Dana Morrow, James Powell, Jameka Powell, Demetrius Glenn, James Glenn, and Redmon Glenn; aunts and uncles, George and Faye Stewart, Frances Truitt, Ernestine “Tina” Duncan, and Erica Johnson; nephew, Gerald Henson; nieces, Cydni and Vivian Peppers; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Dana will truly be missed. We gather today to honor her memory, and the light she shone on us all.
