Mary A. McDowell

Mary Ann McDowell, 78, passed away on April 28, 2026. Funeral will be 12 noon on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive with interment in Green Meadows Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday also at the church.

Mary was born on December 20, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Alvin White and Dorothy Mae McDowell. She was devoted and accepted Christ at an early age. Mary Ann worked as a machine operator at Spaulding and Rogers and later went on to Sam Meyers, where she retired. She was a graduate of Central High School. Mary Ann was known and loved by many and knew no stranger. She had a sense of humor like no other.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Starra McDowell; and one grandchild, Kirk McDowell. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Penny McDowell; two grandchildren, Joshua Rhodes and DeKayla Hale; and one great-grandchild who was very special to her, Hermonie Adkins. She also leaves behind a sister, Gail McDowell; a brother, Joseph McDowell; two relatives who were like her sisters sharing a very special bond, Juanita Crittendon (cousin), and Virginia McDowell (aunt); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
