Eric C. Sykes, Sr.

Eric Christopher Sykes, Sr., 64, of Clearwater, Florida, entered eternal rest on May 31, 2026.  A funeral service to celebrate Eric’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Christian Faith Tabernacle Church, 3228 Greenwood Ave, Louisville, KY 40211, with viewing from 10 am – 12 noon and funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow at Green Meadows Memorial Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY 40216.

Born on June 14, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Frankie D. Lilly and Raymond Lilly, Eric lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Eric was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to those around him, even in his final days, while surrounded by family and friends. His warmth, strength, and caring presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.

Eric devoted 35 years of his life to his work as a chef, a career that reflected both his remarkable talent and his generous spirit. He found great joy in preparing meals for his loved ones and for the communities he served, using food to bring comfort, joy, and connection to others. His passion for cooking was only surpassed by his deep devotion to his family. He was never happier than when surrounded by those he loved, sharing stories, laughter, and the meals he prepared with care.

A strong Christian and faithful follower of God, Eric’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. His belief in compassion, generosity, and kindness was evident in the way he lived and, in the love, he showed to others.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Frankie D. Lilly, and his father, Raymond Lilly. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Clara Sykes; his sisters, Lois Summers (Robert) and Barbara Trammell; his brother, Alex Lilly (Tasha); and his children, Albert Williams, Yahha Williams, and Eric Sykes, Jr. (Cherisse). He will also be lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
