Flossie M. Charlton

Flossie May Charlton, 94, passed away on June 12, 2026. Services will be Thursday, June 25, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.

Flossie Charlton was born June 30, 1931 to Harry and Almetta Jackson in Chautauqua, New York. She had two siblings, Harry Thomas and Gloria. They moved to Louisville where she attended Central High School. She loved music and played the piano and was in a special chorus. She was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church.

Flossie followed her dreams and became a singer and dancer. She traveled all over meeting many great people and celebrities. Motherhood ended her career and she settled down with her husband James Charlton and children. Flossie was loved dearly and will never be forgotten.

Flossie is joining her sons James, George, and Kenneth Charlton. She is survived by her children, Gerald Jackson and Jamesetta Charlton; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
