Lester Phillip Clarkson, 71, passed away on September 3, 2026. Services will be Saturday, September 12, 2026 beginning with visitation at 10 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery. Lester Phillip Clarkson had an influence over everyone’s life he encountered. He was the mayor of his neighborhood and ran the Pinewood Apartments. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved his children dearly. Lester was the oldest child to the late Gladys Raye Wells and Ruben Lester Phillip Clarkson. He was born in Louisville Kentucky on May 11th, 1955. He graduated from duPont Manual in 1973. He then headed on to Eastern Kentucky for college where he was a part of the 7/11 club and met the mother of his kids, the late Rosalie Clarkson. He continued his life to be a business manager. Lester is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Wells; grandmother, Edith Overall; siblings, John Lafayette Clarkson, Bridgett Parker, and Kim Thompson. Lester leaves to cherish his memory his three children Lester Clarkson Jr, Ruben Clarkson, Chloe Clarkson; two brothers, Joe Clarkson (Rebecca) and James Clarkson (Sharonda); nine grandchildren, Jordan, Jada, Zaharrah, Camadi, Cemani, Ceyarri Camari, Ceylani and Cazari; special friends and family; Julia Eversole, Doug Irvin, Clifford Shelby, Sonya Maddox, and Edward Patterson; he was also loved by a host of nieces nephews.
