Ida Mae Parks, 92, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2019. Ida Mae was born in Louisville Kentucky to the late Mozella Batts and Willie W. Batts, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie Batts, Jr. and a sister, Dorothy Mae Batts. Ida Mae graduated from Louisville Central High School in 1943 at the age of 16. She attended Jefferson Community College receiving an Associates Degree in respiratory therapy. Ida Mae worked at General Hospital and Ireland Army Hospital where she was the first black female respiratory therapist. She retired from the VA hospital. Ida Mae is survived by her daughter Audrey Parks-Toritsemotse, and son, Stuart A. Parks; six grandchildren, Anquinette Hubbard, Emiko Toritsemotse, Alero-Joi Omagbemi, Eyituoyo Ida Toritsemotse, Stuart Parks, Jr., and Bryson Parks; five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
