Lestella Burton-Wilson, 66, passed away on December 12, 2019. Services will be Saturday, December 21, 2019 with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at Hughlett Temple AME Zion Church, 2115 W. Jefferson Street. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery. Lestella was born June 4th, 1953 in Louisville Kentucky to the late Mary Mae and Hubert Burton. “Stella” was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, foster mother and friend who truly believed in the strength of family. She was united in holy matrimony on December 21, 1985, to the late Leon Wilson. She was preceded in death by her siblings Iona Burton, Diane Burton, Charles Burton, Jeanette Bates, and Mariam Hughes of Louisville Ky. At an early age realized Stella realized her hands were a gift from God, and she used them tirelessly. She found joy in taking care of orphaned and special needs children through her work at the Home of the Innocence and through her 35 years of service at Humana Hospital Audubon. Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was adored by many. Her unwavering faith was as strong as the woman she was, and she didn’t hesitate to tell others how good God is, was and will always be. Stella loved life, travel and could often be found on a boat sitting peacefully at a machine with pure joy in her heart and `a smile on her face. Lestella’s influence will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever. She peacefully departed this life on Thursday December 12, 2019 at 3:53 am in the morning at Norton Hospital Pavillion, in Louisville, Kentucky. Her beautiful legacy will remain in the lives of her children LaVonda Burton-Satterfield (Patrick) of Bowling Green, KY, Sterling Burton, Corey Burton, Talia Wilson, and Qaron Wilson of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Eudelia Malone, and Frances Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. |
