Obituaries

Charlene Rudd, 68, passed away on Monday, August 21, in Memphis, TN.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, at Greater Bethel Temple Apostolic Church, 834 S. 3rd Street. The funeral will be at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

Charlene was born on December 9, 1954, in Belle, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Dorothy Crook. She was one of seven children. Charlene was educated in the Jefferson Community College system, earning two Associate Degrees/ The 1st degree was in Respiratory Therapy and the 2nd was in Accounting. 

Charlene worked as a Respiratory Therapist for Baptist Health East for 30 years. She enjoying going to the movies, planning vacation trips, traveling the country, sewing, spending time with friends, spending time with her sons, and laughing. She was actively involved in church and a regular member of Greater Bethel Temple.

Charlene married Donald Rudd in 1974. They were married 14 years and two children were born from this union. She is survived by her sons, Jeremy and Jonathan Rudd; grandson, Bentley Raider-Rudd; brothers Barry Crook and Eddie Cole; sisters Laverne Crook-Smith, Gail Crook, Vera Lawuary, and Patricia Crook; nieces Tiffany Crook-Allen, Alexis Lawuary, Brandy Anderson, Kimberly Hannah, Constance Smith, Brooklyn Smith, and Trace Cole; nephews Eric Crook, Greg Cook, Bruce Smith Jr.,  Kordell Smith and Michael Cole; great nieces and nephews, Tiphanee Crook, La’Twan Crook, Eric Crook, Jr., Sky Smith, Aizen Smith, Malaya Smith, Sharley Jones, Malaysia Jones, and a host of relatives and friends.
