Charles Downs, Jr., 90, passed away on March 24, 2026. Services will be Tuesday, March 31, 2026 beginning with visitation at 12 noon and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons Funeral Home, 951 S. Preston Street.

Mr. Charles Downs, Jr.  (BKA) as “June:” Downs was born In Fairfield Ky. to Viola Evans & Charles Downs Sr. who had preceded him in death. June had 3 sisters and 1 brother who also preceded him in death. He went to Russell Jr High School.  Charles married the love of his life, Emily Downs in 1962. He was known for playing music at the Yearlings Club and several other clubs in the Louisville area.  June was known as one of the best guitar players in town.

June had two sons Kenneth Downs and Morris Downs who preceded him in death. June leaves to cherish his memories 7 of his 9 children Dale Williams, Charlie Downs III, Mary Downs, Tammy White, Victor Downs Juan Downs, and Kesha Sweat. June had plenty of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  He will be missed by them all.
