Obituaries

GILLIAM, Clarence W., Sr., 96, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on June 12, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Frances and two sons, Clarence W. Gilliam, II (Elaine) and Christopher P. Gilliam (Cheryl); siblings, Lizzie Miller, Clenteria Lowry-Carr, Lillie and Sam Gilliam, Jr.; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was a devout Christian, Clarence attended Greater Northwest Baptist Church, and was a former deacon of Second Baptist Church, Bloomington, IN. He studies for two years at Alcorn A&M before being drafted into the Army during World War II. In the war, he was awarded five bronze stars and the Good Conduct medal. Clarence continued his education at Louisville Municipal College and graduated in 1951 with a B.S. in Chemistry and MBA at Indiana University, Bloomington, 1973. He was an analytical Chemist for the Naval Weapons Center at Crane, IN for over 20 years. Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM, Thursday, June 16th followed by the funeral service on Friday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. at the Greater Northwest Baptist Church, 3402 West 62nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Interment will be 1 PM, Saturday, Green Meadows Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
