Obituaries

Curtis Lee Brown, Sr., 72, passed away on August 24, 2026. Services will be Friday, September 11, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at Greater Friendship Church, 2325 Osage Avenue. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.

Curtis was born June 28, 1954, in Louisville, KY. To the late Annie Mae and Willie Brown Sr. He was the fifth child of eight children. Family preceding him in death; siblings, Willie Brown Jr., Otha Mae Johnson, Le Roy Brown, Don Brown; two grandsons, Curtis L. Brown III and Dominique Bell; and one great-grandson; Curtis D. Brown

He attended Louisville Male High School where he graduated and received his diploma. He also attended the Jefferson State Technical School where he obtained his HVAC/Electrical certification. Curtis was a former employee with The United Staes Postal Service, Honeywell and BF Goodrich Company. He was an avid Louisville Cardinal fan. You would often find him wearing his cardinal gear.

Curtis departed this life at the University of Louisville Hospital on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his family and close friends. Curtis leaves to cherish a life-long companion of 30 plus years Debbie Monroe. This was definitely a match made in heaven.

Curtis also leaves to cherish his son Curtis L. Brown Jr, of Louisville, KY; his bonus mom of 50 plus years, Amy R. Brown; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, LaTonya Renee (Steve) White, Cynthia Michelle Sanders, Pamela (Paul) Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
