David Watson, 100, passed away on June 19, 2025. Memorial service will be 12 noon on Friday, June 26, 2026 at First Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1159 Algonquin Parkway.

David was born on August 17, 1925, in the scenic city of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Viola Turner and Riley Watson. From a young age, he exhibited a boundless curiosity and zest for life, qualities that would guide him through a century of remarkable experiences and cherished memories.

In 1999, David met the love of his life, Janice Cochran Gibson. Their bond grew into a lasting partnership and, in 2017, a loving marriage. Together, they shared 27 beautiful years filled with laughter, devotion, and deep respect. David was a man of many talents and interests, a true renaissance spirit. His life was a tapestry woven with experiences that spanned generations, each thread adding depth and nuance to his story. He was a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom for his family and friends, always offering a listening ear and sage advice.

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Janice; his first cousin, Edwillie Myrick; his stepson, Juan Cochran; and his three sisters-in-law, Judy Cochran Knapp, Jacqueline Cochran, and Edwina Cochran. He will also be lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchild, whose life was touched by David’s gentle guidance, kindness, and unwavering love.

David’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and friendship. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, we carry forward his spirit of kindness, ensuring that his legacy of love continues to touch the lives of all who follow.
