Dewayne Cleophis Steagall, 52, passed away on June 3, 2026. Services will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive.

DeWayne was born on October 29, 1973, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Barbara D. Edelen (Stephen). He was the oldest of three children. At an early age, he accepted Christ and later became a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon, Kentucky.

DeWayne graduated from Doss High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked at the Barrel Factory in Lebanon, Kentucky. Cooking was his passion, and he found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends. When he was not in the kitchen, he could often be found enjoying one of his favorite pastimes—fishing.

DeWayne was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Cleo and Esther Steagall; his stepfather, Stephen Edelen; and his grandson, Curtis Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted partner of 30 years, Neccy Edelen; his children, Cheyenne Posey and DeWayne Steagall; step daughter LaNika Edelen; his siblings, Rone Steagall (Louis Small) and Tobias Steagall; step-sisters, Angela Johnson-Bell, LaToya Edelen, Stephanie Edelen; his grandchildren, ShiNaijah, A’Goddess, and Cheyenne Rushin, DeWayne “Baby Wayne” Steagall Jr;, and great grandson Chosyn Brown; step grandchildren, La’Tasia and Taylan Johnson; nieces, Lauryn Steagall and Jazzaria Edelen; his favorite aunt, Shirley Steagall; his cousin-brother, Anton Steagall (Donica); and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his love, kindness, and memory.

DeWayne’s warmth, generosity, and love for family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
