Dr. Victor McKinney Jr., 81, passed away November 1, 2021. He formerly served as Pastor of Great Crossing Baptist Church, Georgetown, St. John Baptist Church, Louisville, and Howard Chapel Baptist Church, New Albany, IN; Senior Chaplain at the KY Reformatory in LaGrange and Moderator of General Association of Baptists in KY.
He graduated from Simmons Bible College (B.S. 1963), Kentucky State University ((B.A. 1969), and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1972 and D.Min.1977).
He was preceded in death by his parents Rhoda McKinney and Victor McKinney and his brothers Jack, James, Chester and Melvin McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Ernestine Bacon McKinney; children, Ronda, Patrick, Martin (Stephanie), Malcolm, and Jill St. James; grandchildren, Hyde, Xavier, Marley, Maceo, and Ronin; and sister, Alene Denning; special friends Shannon Reed and Dr. Stephen D. Smith. Visitation 4-8 pm Thursday at Middletown Christian Church, 500 N. Watterson Trail and Friday after 10 am at Joshua Tabernacle Baptist Church, 426 S. 15th St. Funeral service follows at 11 am.
