Geneva Marvin Brown, 94, passed away on September 16, 2025. Services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2025 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at King Solomon Baptist Church, 1620 Anderson Street.

Geneva was born on October 19, 1930, to the late Joseph Brady (Bray) and the late Katherine Merryfield (Duncan). The youngest of six children, Geneva’s life was rooted in faith from an early age. She received Christ at Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend A. D. King, later worshiped at King Solomon Baptist Church, and eventually became a devoted follower of Hill Street Baptist Church, where she remained until her passing.

Geneva married Milton F. McNealy, and together they were blessed with seven children. Afterward, she remarried Ollie Brown, and their union endured until his passing in 1988.

A proud graduate of Central High School, Geneva lived a life marked by hard work and dedication. She worked at Page’s Confectionery, served as a chef at the Holiday Inn, and was employed at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant. She went on to build a distinguished 30+ year career at GE Appliance Park, retiring with respect and admiration from her peers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Joseph (Joe) Brady, Jr., Roland H. Brady, Sr., and sisters Francis March, Susie Brady; and sister-in-law Julia Brady; her husbands; her daughters Mildred Bellamy, Gina Dixon, and Carol Gill; her grandchildren Deron Cole, Suwanda Cole, and Joseph P. McNealy, Jr., Laila Dixon; and two great-granddaughters, Steve Hickman, Jr., Charlea Tajaneé Reed, Nylah Linear and Breyasia Walker.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Bilal Abdul Qayyum, Milton F. McNealy, Jr., Phillip Shabazz, and Joseph P. McNealy (Darlene); her nieces, Mama Yaa Asantewaa, Katherine Brady, Charisse Hay, and Stephanie Knott; her nephew Roland Brady, Jr.; along with twenty-nine grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends—a special thanks to Jamilah P. McNealy, who cared for her during her time of need.

Geneva’s life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and love. If you ever found yourself on her porch along 26th Street, you knew how much she enjoyed feeding others, welcoming everyone, and giving freely regardless of their station in life. She did not judge; she uplifted. She encouraged all around her to strive for better, to love deeply, and to help make this world a better place.

Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
