Obituaries

Rev. George Edward Drummond, Jr.,88, passed away on August 12, 2026. Services will be Saturday, August 22, 2026 beginning with visitation at 10 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 714 S. Shelby Street. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.

George entered this life on July 17, 1938, in Harlan County, Kentucky. He was born to the late Rev. George Drummond Sr. and Celeste Drummond. George graduated from Rosenwald High School in Harlan, Kentucky. He later served in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1959. At an early age, George accepted Christ as his Savior at Saint John Baptist Church in Evarts, Kentucky. He remained grounded in his faith throughout his life. On December 17, 1994, George married Gail Edison.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Terry Smith, Myra Lewis, Louise Drummond, David Drummond, Lisa Ransom, Monique Thorn, and Darrick Edison; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. George will be remembered and cherished by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
