Idell McCall Wallace, 87, passed away on November 3, 2025. Services will be Tuesday, November 11, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10:30 am and funeral service to follow at 12:30 pm at Corinthian Baptist Church, 1916 W. Jefferson Street. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington, KY.
Idell was born on January 17, 1938, in Matthews, Alabama, to Fannie and Adair McCall Sr. She was a devoted wife to her husband James of 63 years, and a loving mother to their children, James Jr., Teresa, and Melisa. She was a graduate of Georgia Washington High School, Mt. Meigs, Alabama before she started her long work history at Pillsbury where she worked over 25 years before retirement.
Idell gave her life to Christ at an early age at New Liberty Baptist Church, Alabama. After she moved to Louisville, she stayed with the Lord and became a member of Southern Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, and finally Corinthian Baptist Church. She has always used her voice to lift Jesus by singing in the church choir as well as the Wells singers of Louisville. Some of her favorite songs were “Rooted and Grounded”, “Pass me not”, “Jesus keep me near the cross”, as well as “Don’t you let nobody turn you around”. Your voice will never be forgotten.
Idell will always be remembered for her delicacies from the kitchen. She had such a giving heart, she even fed a bus load of people that came to visit from out of town. Some of her specialties were banana pudding, pound cake, Coca-Cola cake, sweet potato pie, corn pudding, greens, macaroni and cheese, and hot water cornbread.
She is survived by her husband, James Sr., her children, James Wallace Jr. (Pamela) and Teresa Hudson (James Sr.); siblings, Mary Clark, Mary Henry, Margaret Goodman (Bennie), Annie Tucker (Dorthus), Dennis Bibbins (Marilyn), Betty Boswell, Annette Kelly (Gregory), Stanford Bibbins, Cheryl Davis; sister in law, Annette Evans (Curt); grandchildren, Jacquetta Smith (Will), Ja’Lita Hudson, Vachel Hudson, Jazmine Hudson, Kayla Hudson, James Hudson Jr.; 12 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie and Adair McCall Sr. as well as father, Walter Bibbins; daughter, Melisa Wallace; and brothers, Adair McCall Jr. and Johnny Bibbins.
