Johnny Shenard Dunn, 62, passed away on July 11, 2026./ Services will be Thursday, July 30, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at West End Baptist Church, 1400 S. 4th Street.

Johnny Shenard Dunn was born on January 20, 1964 to the late Leontine Dunn. Johnny attended JCPS (later receiving his GED), he worked as a General Laborer for over 30 years.

Johnny loved his family and never met a stranger. He was a good father and loving husband. One of his favorite things was watching documentaries (he was such a wealth of information) “The best thing that ever happened to me (Johnny said), was the day I joined the West End Baptist Church.” Circumstances led him to Dr. Dartanya Hill, Sr. which led him to what would become his church home under the leadership of Pastor Dartanya G. Hill, Sr. Johnny served in the Feed the Homeless Program, as a member of the Mighty Men of West End, as a Preacher of the Gospel and last but certainly not least, a member of the WEBC Mass Choir. No matter where he served, “the praises of the Lord were continually in his mouth” (Ps.34:1).

He leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years, Delinda Loiuse Dunn, four children Turrhod Mitchell, James Mayes, Johnny Mayes and Johnetta Mayes, three siblings; Anthony Dunn (Kelicua), Phyllis Dunn (Micheal) and Terrie Dunn (Donnie), his aunt; Wanda Dunn, 20+ grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and so many friends. Johnny Shenard Dunn will be greatly missed, as he has touched the lives of many.
