Josiah Edmund McGowan, age 19, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Services will begin on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 with viewing from 11-1 pm at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street. Memorial service will be Friday, July 24, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and service to follow at 12 noon at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1018 S. 15th Street.
Josiah was born on November 21, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky to Cherie Edwards and James McGowan. His mother is deceased and his father survives in Louisville, Kentucky.
Josiah received certification from Job Corp ServSafe Food Handlers certification; Bank Deposit certifica-tion. Reconciliation certificate; infection control for nursing and CNA Nurse Aide certifications as well as High school Diploma graduate as of November 23, 2025. Josiah McGowan also attended Eastern High School in Louisville Kentucky. He was a great Culinary student with a dream of becoming a Top Chef and take care of his sisters.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory; siblings; Shannon, Shantrell, JiLynn, Daronika and Kurrenci. Jakel, Jasmine, Jamesetta and Justice. Grandparents; Edgar Hoosier, Edward Morris and Annie Mae Guthrie. Uncles; Alton Carter and Mel-vin Carter. Aunt; Crystal Carter. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Deborah Frances Edwards.
