Rita Carlene Smith, 61, passed away on December 19, 2025. Services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 beginning with visitation at 12 noon and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.

Rita Carlene Smith was born on April 23,1961 to the late Alberta Smith and Willie C Smith Sr. in Louisville, Ky.   She is preceded in death by her parents: her sisters Valerie Smith, Barbara Coffee, Margaret peels. Her brother Willie Smith and nephew Dion Smith.

Rita leaves to cherish her memories with a daughter: Neidra Smith. Two sons: Antwan Smith and Donnie Smith (Kendra). She was a grandmother of 17 and a great grandmother of 10. She leaves her sister Gloria Smith and brothers Cona l(Tammy), Tony, Jeffery and David Smith. She was a wonderful caring aunt to a host of nieces and nephews even great nieces and nephews. Her heart was full of love for family.

This lady had one of the biggest smiles it would brighten up a room and a sense of humor that allowed her to say just what came to her mind.. She loved simple things like Bingo, cooking and eating with family and friends always ready for something sweet to eat. In her younger days Rita was a member of a motor cycle club “Flying Dragon.’ Some would say she was “The life of the party.”
