Obituaries

Robert Brown, Sr., 78, passed away on July 1, 2025. Services will be Saturday, July 5, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church, 6800 S. Hurstborne Parkway. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.

Robert proudly graduated from Louisville Male High School in the Class of 1966 and went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. A gifted athlete, Robert’s talents took him far — he earned a place on the USA Olympic Track Team in 1970 and also after college was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Louisville Male High School and at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.

He was a proud member of the Smoketown Brotherhood and remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life. Robert was an entrepreneur that opened a business in1970. He was a dedicated member of Burnett Avenue Baptist Church where he served many years as an usher.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Barbara Brown; his children, Marletta Brown Firman (Ro), Djuan Johnson, and Dante Craig; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Robert Brown Sr. will be forever remembered for his athletic excellence, his fierce loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family and community. His spirit lives on in every life he touched.
