Robert Houston Thomas, 76, passed away on August 5, 2026. Services will be 1 pm Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons Funeral Home, 951 S. Preston Street.
Robert Houston Thomas, who was better known as Rob T. was born in Trenton, Kentucky, to his beloved and proud parents R.B. and Mary Catherine Thomas, who has preceded him in death.
Rob T, was a man of many talents and passions known for his gruff exterior tha tconcealed a kind heart. Those who knew him were touched by his quick wit and his easy going nature, always ready to spend a leisurely afternoon playing chess or throwing back a few cold ones while watching his favorite westerns.
Rob T. graduated from DuPont Manual High School in Louisville, KY, Class of 1967, Robert answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he returned to civilian life and pursued a career as a master electrician, eventually retiring as a member of Local 369. In 2017, Rob T. recommitted his life to Christ at the House of Prayer Ministries under Pastor Theo Mackey, a decision that brought him great peace and fulfillment in his later years. His faith was a guiding light, in his heart.
Rob T. came from a strong family of Ten his siblings , Rachel Jones, and Mary Louise Graham who also preceded him in death. Rob T is survived by sisters Lena Williams, Diane Phillips, Dora (Patrick) Moten, and Minne Watson; his brothers, Nathaniel Thomas, Clark (Christine) Thomas and James Thomas. Robert’s legacy will live on through his loving children: Markeita Mack, Felicia (Anthony) Patrick, Thalia McMurray, Antoine Splunge, Marques Watkins, and Shamar Latham. Thomas; his grandchildren & great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Rob T’s memory will be cherished forever in all who knew and loved him.
