Rodney D’juan Smith, 60, passed away on July 22, 2026. Services will be Friday, August 7, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and memorial service to follow at 12 noon at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.

Rodney was born May 9, 1965, at the Old General Hospital, passed away leaving behind a life defined by kindness, generosity, and love. He was the cherished son of Paula G. Smith and the late Cecil Lee Smith Sr. He graduated from Waggener Traditional High School and worked many jobs throughout his life, spending most of his years serving with the dedication at the Masonic Homes of Louisville. He was baptized on October 20, 2002, at Hill Street Missionary Baptist Church, grounding his life in faith and compassion.

Rodney was known for his giving heart. Always offering gifts, support, and joy to his family and close friends. Even in death, his generosity continued as he donated tissue to Network of Hope, allowing him to help others one final time.

He is survived by his mother Paula G. Conley, his grandmother Clara “Grandmommie” Pendleton (deceased) His two deceased uncles Horace “Toby” Grant (Mildred), James “Jimmy” Pendleton. His brother and sister, Cecil Lee “Tippy” Smith Jr (Donna), Sherri “Muffin” Smith (Kenny), his nieces and nephews, Ashley Smith, Alfred Junie Smith (deceased), Alesha Smith, Cecil L Smith III, the Grant and Pendleton cousins, his eight great nieces and nephews, his boyhood friends, the Snadon sisters and the Calloway family who held a special place in his heart.

Rodney’s gentle spirit, warm humor, and endless generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
