62, of Louisville, KY, passed away on January 8, 2019. She was known as “Peaches” to her family and friends. Well-loved and touched many in life. Ruth was born in Louisville on February 19, 1956 to Irma Sleets and Julius Brown.

Ruth was a strong willed, very independent, caring, kind, joyful, and loving woman with a huge heart, who put her children and grandchildren first always. If you knew Ruth you knew she loved her bingo and scratch offs. Any child growing up in Parkside knew her as the neighborhood mom and that she was Tressa, Man, and Reggie’s momma. Her Christian life started at Ninth & O Baptist Church, that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Ruth worked as a CNA for George Town Manor for 10 years. She enjoyed hanging out with her girlfriends and her special sisters Bertha and Jackie. All ways up to know good and enjoying the herbs of the earth. She was also actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives and loved getting them off the school bus and fixing her famous potato salad.

Ruth is preceded in death by Eddie Shanklin, Julius Brown, Irma Sleets, Pamela Denise Brown, Patrisha Ann Brown. Ruth leaves to cherish her special memories, daughter, Tressa Shanklin (37), sons, Reggie Sleets (Shacona) (44), and Henry Brown(47); grandchildren, Dominique Brown, Manshell Brown, Tajanay Jackson, Keiana Robinson, Iyana Boller, Michael Boller, Mantrez Brown, great grandchildren, Chloe’ Alexander, De’Ante Alexander, Bra’Lynn & Kartere and a host of sisters, brothers, and other family & friends.

Services will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons, 951 S. Preston Street.
