Sarah Mae Leavell-Pope, 92, passed away on May 3, 2023. Services will be Saturday, May 13, 2023 beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by funeral service at 12 noon at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 443 E. Kentucky Street. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.
Sarah Mae Pope peacefully left her earthly home and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Minnie Leavell; husband, Eugene Pope; son, Eric Pope; daughter, Zerene (Kay) Stringer; great-granddaughter, India Birts; four brothers; and five sisters.
Sarah is survived by her three daughters who faithfully cared for her, China Snardon (primary caregiver), Deborah (George) Shannon, and Shelia Snardon; two sisters, Evelyn Mcintosh and Gertrude (Wilbert) Robinson; eight grandchildren, Shajuana (Robert) Campbell, Mia (Bobby) Crosby, Aaron (Contessa) Payne, Tanitra Snardon, Trinise (Robert) Starks, Parish Snardon, Tashawn Snardon and Andrea Shannon; 11 great-grandchildren and two bonus; five great-great grandchildren and three bonus; and a host of loving family and friends.
