Sarah Marie Newby, 56, passed away on July 1, 2026. Services will be Friday, July 10, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11 am and funeral service to follow at 1 pm at Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons Funeral Home, 951 S. Preston Street.

Sarah Marie Shultz born August 22, 1969 to the late Charlene Ann Walker and Thomas Shultz in Louisville, KY. She was joyfully reunited with her sister Shirlene Denise Ellery (Punkin) and aunty Shirlene Ann-Marie Jernigan.

Sarah attended Jefferson County Public School, obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant Certification where she went on to be a great CNA for 13 years plus. She enjoyed shopping and high heels, spending time with family and traveling to Indianapolis with Aunty Cookie, she loved music, playing cards and going to church. Looking good and leaving that smell of baby powder as she passed by. She gave her life to Christ at Image of God Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Keith Wilkins in Jeffersonville, IN, in Louisville, Ky she attended Village Worship Church under leadership of Bishop Anthony Handley, if she couldn’t make it to her home church she went to Spillman Memorial Church under leadership of Rev. Andy Dickerson. She was dedicated to making it to church.

On July 1, 2026 she was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves behind to keep her memory alive her daughter LaVita Shultz, sons, Michael Hunt Jr. and William Shultz (Kimberly Shultz). Her grandchildren Walter Duncan Jr, NorRiya Abernathy, KaRie Abernathy, LaMicha Hunt, Dallas Hunt, Aslan Hunt, Messiah Hunt, William Shultz jr, Kam Shultz, Kash Shultz, Dream Shultz, and her companion Steven Boone. Her Great Grandchildren Na’Zahrie Abernathy and Wynter Duncan all of who she truly loved to talk to and see any chance she got; and a host of family friends.

When someone would say to her its good to see you she would say its good to be seen. We truly are going to miss hearing her voice and seeing her.
