Obituaries

Wanda Marie (Bell) English, 88, passed away on November 11, 2025. Services will be Thursday, November 20, 2025 beginning with visitation at 10 am and funeral service to follow at 12 noon at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 Anderson Street. Interment will be in Green Meadows Cemetery.

Wanda was born in Larue County, Hodgenville, Kentucky on November 8, 1937.  Her parents were Mary Elizabeth Ownes and George Bell. She graduated from Bond Washington High School in Elizabeth Town Kentucky.  She married at an early age to the late Robert Shirley English Sr.  Together they came to Louisville and had a family of six children.  Wanda became a member of King Solomon Baptist Church, pastor (Rev. Charles Elliott Jr).

Wanda is preceded in death by her son Robert Shirley English Jr, Rory English, Keith English, and daughter Darlene Eloise English (Jones).  She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Rhonda Marie English and Vanessa Lynn English (Johnson), a sister Joann Handcock, 17 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren, a niece Shirley Bell (Wooden), nephew Joey Smith, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  She will be truly missed.

Wanda loved to travel, go to church functions, casinos, fashion shows, cookouts but shopping was what she enjoyed best.
